Recovery in the Wilderness is a program that hopes to interest newcomers to recovery in the outdoors. It is run by Matt Johnson, a NOLS certified Wilderness First Responder and offers backpacking and outdoor trips to people receiving services in Halfway Houses, Sober Living Programs and the Winnebago County Drug Court. Each trip incorporates fundamental skills along with 12 step programming.

If you or an organization you know would be interested in participating, or to donate used gear to our efforts, please contact Matt Johnson at for more information.
